Who Is Eligible for a VA Loan?

Eligibility is based on service history. You may qualify if you are an active-duty service member, a veteran who was honorably discharged, a National Guard or Reserve member who meets minimum service requirements, or the surviving spouse of a veteran who died in service or from a service-connected disability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a VA loan take longer to close than a conventional loan?
Not necessarily. VA loans require a VA appraisal which adds one step but with an experienced lender the timeline is very manageable. Most VA purchases close in 30 to 45 days.
Can I use a VA loan to buy a condo or townhouse in Maryland?
Yes, in many cases. Condos need to be on the VA-approved list but there are thousands of approved communities throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia. Mike can check VA approval status for any specific property.
I used my VA benefit before on another home. Can I use it again?
Yes. VA entitlement is reusable. If you have paid off a prior VA loan or sold the home, your entitlement is typically restored. Mike will review your current entitlement status and explain what is available to you.
